About us

Chamber music runs in the family

Chamber Music Munich is a passion project, founded on the belief that Munich's chamber music scene deserves a proper digital home. Behind the website is Friedrich Weniger, a cellist from a musical family in which chamber music has always been part of life.

His grandfather played cello in several renowned ensembles and instilled the belief that close collaboration between a few musicians at the highest level is something special — an art form that neither orchestras nor soloists can replace, and that needs a space of its own.

Dedicated amateur musicians

Friedrich has been playing in Munich for over 15 years and is active in several orchestras. His particular commitment is to dedicated amateur chamber musicians: ensembles working seriously and with high artistic standards, without performing professionally.

It soon became clear how difficult it was to keep track of concerts, ensembles and programmes. Information was scattered and the scene remained invisible — that is precisely what this project aims to change.

Giving chamber music a proper voice

Chamber Music Munich aims to make this scene visible: from established series and one-off projects to young ensembles beginning to build an audience. Organisers can submit concerts themselves for editorial review and publication, creating a lively, up-to-date picture of Munich's diverse chamber music scene.

Because chamber music deserves a proper voice.
